1954 Mercury Wagon

This would be the third and final year of this body style for the Mercury, which was first introduced in 1952. The differences between each year were minimal and entailed slight body trim changes.

The 1954 Mercury could quickly be distinguished from a 1952 or 1953 by the large one-piece wrap-around taillight. The 1952 and 1953 had a chrome housing with a small bullet-like taillight, and below it was the back up light, if the car was so equipped.

The Monterey wagon was the top-of-the-line Merc in 1954, not only in price but also in weight. At a base price of $2,800 it was about $150 more than either the convertible or plexi-glass roof Sun Valley. It also weighed in at about 100 pounds more than either.
