FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) _ AutoNation Inc. (AN) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net income of $387.1 million.
The Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based company said it had profit of $5.87 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $5.76 per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $5 per share.
The auto retailer posted revenue of $6.58 billion in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $6.37 billion.
For the year, the company reported profit of $1.37 billion, or $18.31 per share. Revenue was reported as $25.84 billion.
AutoNation shares have decreased roughly 5% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P’s 500 index has declined 6%. The stock has increased 40% in the last 12 months.
