Changes that the ‘Who Pays for What’ survey series has found — or influenced — in the industry

The percentage of shops being paid regularly by eight large national insurers for the labor required to perform destructive testing of welds prior to welding on a vehicle reached a new high this past spring, according to the quarterly “Who Pays for What?” surveys. It’s still just 37% of shops saying they get paid for the procedure “always” or “most of the time” by those insurers when it was necessary and performed. But that was up from four percentage points from the prior year — and looking longer term, it was three times as many shops that said that back in 2015 and 2016.…
