While their last name means “the farmer” in Dutch, the DeBoer family of northern New Jersey has long since dropped agriculture for automotive repair.
For the sake of this story, let’s say it began a generation back with Bill DeBoer, Sr. Employed at the Ford plant in Mahwah, N.J., during the week, Bill would drag race super stock Camaros and Corvettes on weekends. Eventually the factory was phased out, but Senior turned down relocation offers just so he could open DeBoer’s Auto in 1982.…
