1932 Ford Roadster

The 1932 Ford Roadster seen here has its pedigree going back to 1948 with several reincarnations since and all related to Gene Winfield and Zora Arkus Duntov, the man considered the father of the V-8 powered Corvette.
In 1948 Jim Cardoza, who owned the Ford at the time, brought it to Winfield’s shop in Modesto, Calif., to have some modifications done to the car. Gene was also president of the Modesto Toppers Cruisers Car Club. Gene welded and leaded the cowl vent. The car then passed into the hands of Lew Thompson, who owned the car a few years before selling it to a fellow car club member Pete Hischier in the mid-1950s.
Hischier put fenders back on the car and kept the flathead Ford V-8. He also…
