1992 Pontiac Salsa Press Release

Salsa is Pontiac’s 1992 concept car — a fluorescent orange vehicle with a fun-loving, multi-faceted personality that fits its California heritage. And that’s because it was designed in California at the General Motors Advanced Concepts Center (ACC).

Like the popular TransFormer toys, Pontiac’s seventh consecutive concept vehicle in as many years is either a convertible, a panel delivery or a hatchback that can transport surfboards and mountain bikes on minute, then with a minimum of effort, Salsa’s flexible interior can carry five passengers comfortably the next.

As Pontiac General Manager John G. Middlebrook says, “We wanted a vehicle that would suit the needs of warm weather customers who want their transportation to provide a number of different functions. Salsa fits that bill.”
