Deer have been springing out of the woods onto Michigan highways and arterials with such alarming alacrity that body shops statewide saw record numbers of deer-stricken motorists queuing up their battered vehicles for repair late last year during the deer hunting and mating season, known as “the rut.” Just ask Jacob Schaub, manager of Tates Auto Body of Traverse City, Mich., who was inundated with fix-it jobs, some including collapsed car roofs that were punctuated with deep hoofprints.…
