1990 Jeep press release

A two-part look at the 1990 Jeep press release kit includes this letter by Chrysler Chairman Lee A. Iacocca:

“The Legend’s First Fifty

“A little more than three years ago a legend was entrusted to me and the people of Chrysler Corporation. That legend is Jeep.

“As it has for a half century, the Jeep name evokes images of freedom. Jeep vehicles have always given us the distinctly American freedom to go where we want, when we want.

“The Jeep brand traces its roots to World War II, where a four-shell-drive utility vehicle developed by Willys-Overland distinguished itself the world over. It became such a lasting symbol of our country that in 1964 a Wills-built Jeep MB was accepted for permanent display by the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C.

“Along the way, Jeep vehicles have become an American icon, an indelible part of our heritage.
