LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (AP) _ An automotive supplier will build a new manufacturing facility in central Kentucky, creating 218 full-time jobs, officials said.
Summit Polymers Inc. will construct a $37.5 million 140,000-square-foot (13,006-square-meter) facility in Lawrenceburg, a statement from Gov. Andy Beshear’s office said. The company designs and manufactures automotive interior components. Workers at the new plant will conduct plastic injection molding, paint applications and assembly operations, the statement said.
Work on the project will begin soon and is expected to be completed by next June. The Portage, Michigan-based company has two other plants in Kentucky, one in Mount Sterling and another in Elizabethtown.
“SPI has had a strong presence in the commonwealth for more than three decades, and this new Lawrenceburg operation will position the company for even bigger things in the future,“ Beshear said.
